2009 'Octa' Wilson Golf Day

The 8th Annual “Octa” Wilson golf day was held at the Box Hill Golf Club on Friday 6th November 2009 after the original date was cancelled due to the flooding of 2 fairways in early October.

It was weatherwise a magnificent day and the course in superb condition.

50 Players joined in the individual Stableford event including Graeme Upton who came from Maffra and Scotty Turner all the way from Ararat.

Neville Crowe who could not play due to stitches in his back still joined the likes of Brendon Gale, Tony Free, Wayne Campbell, Tim Livingstone, Joel Bowden, “Flea” Weightman, Peter Williams, Mike Perry, Mark Chaffey. Wayne Walsh.  Francis Bourke, Roger Dean and many others,  for a sandwich before the game and a few convivial afterwards.

At the after game function Brendon Gale spoke about where the club was at present and which direction it was headed. Bill Meaklim took a number of photos which could embarrass a few “Golfers”

After a very close and keenly contested tournament Cameron Clayton won on a count back from Scott Turner.

Trophy Winners for the day were:

Winner Cameron Clayton (on count back)
Runner Up Scott Turner
Third Barry Cameron
Longest Drive Greg Stafford
Nearest The Pin 6th Hole - Des Ryan
11th Hole - Peter Williams

Previous Winners
2002    John Ronaldson
2003    John Ronaldson
2004    Scott Turner
2005    Cameron Clayton
2006    Dale Weightman
2007    Justin Pickering
2008    Wayne Walsh

These are magnificent days where players and officials of all eras mix and tell a few lies.  When dates are finalised for next year and you receive you flyer, jot it in your diary. You will thoroughly enjoy the hospitality of Box Hill Golf Club and meet up with former playing mates.

Back To The 90's (Legends Game)

 2017 legends game 640

To all those who represented the Tigers on and off the field in the 90’s, if it wasn’t for your involvement and sacrifice during this decade the Tigers would not exist, let alone survive to be the Club we are today! People rattled money tins along Punt Road, took pay cuts and played for the love of the jumper and teammates.

The Richmond Former Players & Officials are asking you for one more effort. Come and celebrate with us at the Legend’s Cup match day function!

Last year the boys from the 80’s had a great day and now it’s “Back to the ‘90’s”! You won’t regret it! All 1990's U19’s, Reserves, Seniors & Officials and partners are welcome. ALL RFP&OA members are welcome to attend.

It is a free day including entry and seating. There is only one requirement… you must be a financial member of the Richmond Former Players & Officials Assoc.

The day begins at 11.00am at the “G” on Saturday 8th April, which is Round 3 vs West Coast, with a “Legends” game featuring former players and Corporates. If you wish to participate you can download the entry form here... http://www.formertigers.com.au/images/downloads/2017-legends-game.pdf

Following the Legends game there will be a social gathering throughout the afternoon in the Harrison Room at the G with drinks at bar prices.

After the AFL match everyone is invited back to Punt Road for drinks and finger food with the compliments of RFP&OA and RFC.

So, if you haven’t become a member of the Richmond Former Players and Officials Association yet, download the membership form http://www.formertigers.com.au/images/downloads/2017-membership.pdf and return it before 26th March 2017.

Having done that, and you would like to attend the 1990’s Reunion, please advise Leonie Bawden at formerplayers@richmondfc.com.au or 0438 300 001 by close of business 27th March 2017.

Entry & seating tickets will be distributed probably in the week before the Reunion.

Once a Tiger, always a Tiger!
